Shasha Bridge: Apply to the Young Women’s Scholar Program

Shasha Network is proud to launch the Young Women’s Scholar Program, an initiative aimed at empowering talented young women from diverse backgrounds with career development skills and professional networks. Through our 4-week intensive career accelerator, the scholars will undergo training in Self-leadership, Career Research, Personal Branding, and Mentorship. They will also get an opportunity to connect with some of our mentors from over 30 countries across the world, working with top companies and universities such as Deloitte, KPMG, Stanford, Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, and Oxford, just to mention a few.

We believe in the saying that, “it takes a village to raise a child”, well it takes a woman to raise a nation. Women are the cornerstones of society and we are committed to supporting young women to achieve their career ambitions from early on in their journeys.

In the world of work, women are set to make a significant contribution across multiple sectors in the 4th & 5th Industrial Revolution. Beyond the technical skills that they possess, we also aim to unleash and scale some of the core skills which are already inherent to them. These include skills such as active listening, creativity, empathy, people management & service orientation.

As Shasha Network, we are cognizant of the multiple barriers that women currently face in pursuit of their goals. However, provided with opportunities, the social and economic impact women have on society is incalculable. Studies show that women reinvest up to 90% of their income into their family, this is high in comparison to their male counterparts that only reinvest 30–40%. In essence, we believe preparing young women for future careers and leadership roles is pivotal in the advancement of society as a whole.

In every sphere, the future is indeed female.

Many of our female alumni are actively reinvesting in their communities for example Mkudzei Watambgwa, who after completing the Shasha Bridge Program founded the first Zimbabwean Chapter of Girls in White Coats, a female-led initiative that helps young women pursue careers in healthcare. Valerie Lobo, another alumni has led multiple fundraising and social awareness efforts aimed at bringing attention to the issue of Period Poverty. As a result of her efforts, 1000 young women have access to sanitary materials.

It is stories such as these that inspire us at Shasha Network and we are committed to supporting young women to tell their own stories.

If you are a talented woman between the ages of 16 to 23, apply to join our Young Women’s Scholar Program today! You can find the application link here.
